Additional  Weekly  Activities

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten
  • For TW Pre-K students and younger siblings of TW students
  • Meets weekly in the library on Wednesdays at 2:30 pm for Storytime and an activity
  • Please park on Overton Park Dr. W along the park side of the street and check in with the front office
  • Track your reading with a paper log or through the Beanstack Tracker App (login info below)
  • ​We will take photos at each 100 book milestone and you will receive a certificate upon completion of the program. Happy reading!

Library SPARK Time
  • All 2nd through 5th-grade students are invited to join us in the library during their recess time or with teacher permission.
  • Options available in the library may include:​
    • Meet in Small Groups
    • Virtual Author Visits
    • ​Silent Reading
    • Book Checkout
    • L.A.V.A. Recording Studio activities (once trained)
    • Homework and research assistance
  • 11:15 to 1:00 Daily

L.A.V.A. Collaboration
  • All TW teachers can sign up to collaborate with the library in planning special lessons that implement the L.A.V.A (Library Audio Visual Animation) Recording Studio and can include:
    • ​Class projects
    • Group projects
    • Individual projects
    • Special projects
    • Research projects
    • Project-Based Learning or Inquiry-Based Learning
  • ​Additionally, teachers will send students in groups during these sessions to pre-record our video announcements

The L.A.V.A. Recording Studio currently has the following capabilities:
  • Stop Motion Animation
    • ​Provides students an alternative, creative way to demonstrate their knowledge or tell their story, visually. Can add narration or audio track, post production.
  • Green Screen Video Production
    • ​Provides students an alternative, creative way to demonstrate their knowledge or tell their story, visually. Can edit video and add background, post production. A scrolling teleprompter is available when a script is provided.
  • Podcast or Audio Recording​ 
    • ​Provides students an alternative, creative way to demonstrate their knowledge, orally. Can edit recording, post production.
